Our mission is to transform the lives of dogs of all ages, breeds, and backgrounds- especially those who struggle in the traditional "shelter environments"- by providing a calm, structured, behavior-focused setting that supports healing, guidance and growth. Through patient, compassionate care, we help each dog decompress, build stability, and reach their full potential preparing them for successful, lasting homes.

 We firmly believe that EVERY dog should be given the chance to live a normal life and we at Paw Paw Canine Rescue & Recovery will do everything in our power to make it so.

 

Sitting on 50+ acres in NEPA’s upper countryside there is more than enough space to stretch their
paws and enjoy daily enrichment training and socialization excursions. Residing within nature’s walls gives us the privacy in having calmness to quiet down an overstimulated mind, helping bring the reactivity probability down and bringing upon the sense of “relief” & “safety” that will help us to help the dog’s open their souls to us helping them.

Our adoption philosophy centers on compatibility, transparency, and long-term success. We thoughtfully match each dog to an adopter's lifestyle, abilities, and goals rather than applying arbitrary restrictions or discriminatory criteria.

We prioritize relationship-building and may schedule multiple meet & greets to ensure a comfortable fit for all family members. Our Foster-to Adopt model provides a guided trial period, allowing BOTH dog and adopter to adjust with support.

As a licensed 501c3 Non-profit Organization all monetary proceeds are put back into an “Animal Care Fund” that it’s sole use is to provide the basic necessities plus a little extra for each dog: Food, Treats. Medications, Toys, Supplies Etc..

Our staff although trained on our Policies & Procedures are taught to use situational discretion as what may work for one dog may not for the next. We do not force dogs to adapt to us, we adapt to them and adjust as needed. “The Animal Comes First” is one of our many beliefs as we will put their needs at the forefront and help them in any way we can whether it’s long-term or temporary.
