Megan Hrinko - Director Of Operations

"Animals have been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up I always felt a very natural and profound connection to animals, much more than I did people. In our home there was always some variety of a “pack” and that’s where I learned the comfort in building a genuine and honest bond firsthand. The honesty and unconditional love animals give—without expectation or pretense—shaped my understanding of trust, loyalty, and genuine connection from a very young age.

As a kid, my mom volunteered at a local animal shelter and back then things were a lot more lax so she would bring me with her, that’s where I first witnessed the reality of homeless animals waiting behind kennel doors. Even then, I questioned why they couldn’t all simply come home and I remember I would get so mad about it, I would ALWAYS offer our house up not understanding back then how they would not all fit. Fast forward to Adult Megan Years and the reality of situations brought a deeper understanding of the responsibility and complexity involved in rescue, but that has never stopped my desire to advocate for those who cannot speak for themselves.

Today my family- Myself, My Husband and Our Amazing Son, share our home with a special needs dog who is partially blind who we rescued after she was dumped alongside a development and three wildly spirited cats who are also all rescued from another animal shelter and the street. Throughout the years of rescuing my now “Adult-Life Pack” I’ve grown into this role of knowing and understanding the responsibility of ownership for my pack, seeing firsthand the consequences throughout the public and the impulsive decisions they make, and the tragic realities many animals face due to those decisions whether it be housing restrictions, breed discriminations, lack of preparation, but the biggest of all… GREED.

Seeing the horror that animals get reduced to is heartbreaking, but if I can bring a small glimmer of love and trust back to them, then that gives them a chance, a chance at a life of normal. They deserve kindness, patience and above all…LOVE, and I am that person who can give them all of that and will ALWAYS go to bat for them, if 7 year old Megan can see me now she would be so proud to see that I am fighting for something she believes in; Fighting to not only rescue ALL the dogs, but to ensure they’re understood and supported."
